Quality Over Quantity

For trend items, that I won’t wear that often I prefer not to spend too much on them. Especially if I’m not sure how much wear I’ll get out of it, I might only wear a trend piece once. I’ve started investing a bit more money into staple items, you tend to get what you pay for. By buying better quality pieces, the item generally lasts a lot longer.

I’m mainly going to talk about clothes, however, the same applies for items like handbags and shoes. If you spend a bit more on a bag/a pair of shoes, they are generally better quality, made out of better materials, last a lot longer and wear nicely.

I often experience when I wear a cheaper pair of shoes/heels, they tend to be uncomfortable and give me bad blisters. I get it with some expensive shoes as well, but as I break a better quality pair in, they then fit like a glove. But with a cheaper pair, they just constantly hurt my feet. So I think it’s smart to spend a bit more on shoes that you’ll constantly be wearing, think of it as an investment.

I’m sure several people have experienced buying a bargain top/skirt/trousers and after washing it a few times, it just completely goes out of shape and doesn’t fit right anymore. Or you experience the item wearing/tearing, meaning that it’s not amazing quality. Because of this happening to me so frequently, I’ve made a conscious effort to try to spend a bit more on everyday items like a pair of jeans, basic tops, everyday bags – I really notice a difference. I feel a million dollars when I’ve got a perfect fitting, great quality outfit on – that looks amazing every time I wear it.

The more you wear an item, the more you’ll be willing to spend a bit more on it. Constantly in a plain white t-shirt? Look into investing and buying one from an upper high street brand one or even a designer one, rather than repurchasing the same t-shirt again and again.

Overall, I think its smart to invest in staple items. You might have to save up for it, but there’s nothing more rewarding than buying something that you’ve worked hard for. You should get the quality and perfect fit that comes with the higher price tag!!
