DIY Marble Mug

I love personalizing my things, I think that it gives something a lot more meaning and nobody will have the exact same copy. I saw some marble mugs on Pinterest, I couldn’t help but try to make my own. I think doing a set of 6 in different colours will add such a personal and fun touch to someones home! you can do it with plates, bowls, coasters too – anything ceramic!

You will need:

Bowl – deep enough to dip your mug in

Plain mug

Nail polish – I used two

Clear gloss sealant (not in photo – I used after to make the mug dishwasher safe)

Fill bowl with lukewarm water.

Drop nail polish into the water – less is more, otherwise it clumps up.

Swirl with a toothpick.

Dip mug in, twisting it to get the desired pattern.

Leave to dry. (Photos above are just after its been dipped, the polish is still wet)

Seal with clear gloss sealant.

Tip: you need to work fast. The nail polish starts to set as it hits the water.

You are then left with a beautiful & original mug! It even gets my cats approval.

Nice idea! I have a ton of nail polish that I never use, now I can put it to use.
