Green Smoothie Recipe

This is a perfect recipe for a quick start to your morning, it takes less than 10 minutes to make. Then you can leave, ready to start your day. It’s even great as a snack, I find that it helps to reduce my sugar cravings! 


I always used to get extremely bloated or feel sick after eating certain meals and I thought that it was normal to get that. After I got a severe case of food poisoning, the symptoms became unbearable and I knew something wasn’t right. Because of this I’ve recently found out that i’m lactose intolerant, after finding this out I also found out that I’m soya intolerant too.

At first I was upset because it meant cutting out the majority of desserts as well as cheese. Some of my favourite things. But I’m starting to find alternatives for some of my favourite dishes now that I’m healthy again.

This recipe has been a saviour for me on busy days where I’ve needed to rush out the house. 


This recipe is very adaptable, so mix up the options to see what combinations you prefer! These are just some of the amounts that work well for me.

  1. Pick one base. 230ml of Filtered Water, Coconut Water or Green Tea.
  2. Pick one or two leafy greens. 2-3 handfuls of spinach, 2-3 cups of kale, watercress or lettuce.
  3. Pick one or two fruits to sweeten. 1 apple, grapefruit, pear, orange, banana, 1 cup of grapes, berries, pineapple or 2 kiwis.
  4. Add for flavour and detox (optional). 1/2 juice of lemon, 1 knuckle of garlic, handful of parsley or cilantro.
  5. Place in blender, enjoy!
