I’m sure everyone has heard about the Laura Mercier Translucent setting powder by now, it’s been so talked about that I wanted to try it out for myself. I use quite a bit of under eye concealer to hide my dark circles and to brighten my under eye, so I often found my mascara would run where it hadn’t been set properly. So I wanted to try a lose powder instead of a compact, this translucent powder seemed like the perfect option. I’d read so many good reviews for it, I knew straight away that I’d love it.
You can use this powder just to bake certain areas of your face (under eye, forehead, chin, nose) or you can use a light dusting of the product to set your entire face of makeup. I generally set my whole face because I have oily skin. I often find that some powders can end up looking cakey on the skin if you use it to set your entire face, but this didn’t go cakey in the slightest. It also isn’t drying on my skin and I hardly feel like I’m wearing any makeup when i have it on!!
Even when I don’t use a setting spray on top my face is still matte for hours! (This never usually happens). Not only does it stay matte, it still has radiance – some powders can make your face lose dimension.
I like to apply this with a Beauty Blender/Real Techniques sponge under my eyes to ensure that they don’t crease, but I set the rest of my face using a powder brush. This is the technique that works best for me, in order to set my makeup.
Overall, I’m head over heels for this product. I don’t think I’ll be using any other setting powders anytime soon.
