Picking A Statement Piece | OOTD

If you’re anything like me you often stick to the greyscale when choosing something to wear, and don’t venture into many patterned or extremely colourful items of clothing. This post will be about getting out of your comfort zone and styling a statement piece.

My statement item of clothing is this leopard print skirt. I fell in love with it in store but never thought I’d wear it, I don’t usually like drawing attention to myself.

When styling a statement item of clothing you don’t want to draw attention away from it. For example, you shouldn’t wear two contrasting patterns on your top and bottom, if you want everyone just to be looking at your trousers.

So for my look thats why I stuck to the colours featured in my skirt, wearing a camel coloured roll neck, black tights and a nude bag. I stuck to the earthy tones so everything complemented each other.

You’ve always got to feel comfortable in what you wear otherwise you’ll spend your whole time worrying, thats why my statement skirt isn’t brightly coloured as well (that’d just be too much too soon!).

Every look is always enhanced by some accessories, so I stuck to gold jewellery and hardware to complement the brown and golden tones of my outfit.

On a final note i’d like to thank all of my followers and email subscribers, I never imagined to have as many as I do now in the 3 weeks of having a blog.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post! Comment below what you think and tell me about what statement items you own. Until next time ♥.
